The Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle manga series and the anime series features a large cast of characters designed by CLAMP. The series takes place in a fictional multiverse with nonparrallel timelines where several characters—taken from many of CLAMP's past works as well as other artists' work—can appear in several of the universes as having the same character names and designs but differing histories and settings. The series' storyline follows a group of five adventures as they travel through different dimensions.

Syaoran (小狼, Shaoran?): A character taken from CardCaptor Sakura, though his character traits are the same, he is not to be confused with Syaoran Li from Cardcaptors. There are two versions of this character: One that is first introduced in the first half of the story, who is a Clone of the Original "Syaoran" , created by Fei Wong. The "Original" Syaoran was captured by Fei Wong Reed. Syaoran is voiced by Miyu Irino in Japanese and Jason Liebrecht in English.

Clone Syaoran: "The Clone": He is the protagonist in the 1st half of the story. An outstanding martial artist, and archaeologist, who posseses a great knowledge of history, artifacts and others. He grew up in Clow Country with Princess Sakura, and they are both in love with each other. When she loses her feathers/memories, he sets on a journey to get them back, by paying the price of her forgetting their previous relationship.
Adoptive son to Fujitaka, who found him wandering on the streets and took him. He passed away and left him to carry on with his work. He is blind in his right eye, the which is explained later because of "Syaoran", who put his heart into him, by giving him his eye. Because of this blindness he used his kicks, formerly taught by Seishirō, later obtained the sword Hien in Ōto and was taught by Kurogane to use it.
When the seal broke in Tokyo, he lost his heart and existed only to collect the feathers, which was Fei Wong's first plan when he created him. He also stabs Sakura's soul as a consequence.
In chapter 210 though, he died protecting "Syaoran". This revealed that he regained his heart, and in later chapters 220-221 it was revealed too that he wouldn't die since he is a creation, and by Clow's magic he'll be reborn.

Real Syaoran, "Syaoran" (小狼, Shaoran?) or Tsubasa (ツバサ?): The protagonist of the 2nd half of the story. He was captured by Fei Wong Reed, sealed in a liquid capsule. This is the original "Syaoran" and the one traveling was only a clone of himself. He's a descendent of Clow Reed, and uses the same magic circle and sword as his father- Syaoran Li (from CCS), and his mother is also Sakura- who uses the same magic circle of Sakura Kinomoto in CCS. When his mother saw his future in a dream, he made a wish to Yuko to go to Clow Country. There he met the "Original" Princess Sakura, who was captured by Fei Wong at her 7th birthday and placed a death seal on her. It was his wish to wound back time to take her hand, that created a distortion in the universe, also creating Kimihiro Watanuki. This choice led him to his capture, having to wait 7 years before the seal broke and he could be back in that time once more, to save Sakura.

Main article: Sakura

Sakura (サクラ?): A character taken from Card Captor Sakura, although she shares basic traits from CCS, she is not to be confused with Sakura Kinomoto. There are two versions of this character in the story: the first one introduced in the first half of the manga, simply called Sakura, who is revealed to be a clone from the "Original" Princess Sakura. The other, shown in "Syaoran"'s flashbacks, is the Original Sakura. Her body is "destroyed", apparently, but this is later corrected by Yuko who saved her body and brought it into the Dream world. Sakura is voiced by Yui Makino in Japanese and Monica Rial in English.

Clone Sakura: She is the Princess of Clow in the alternate timeline. Sakura is a cheerful, selfless, and stronghearted being. She would always try her absolute best if there was ever something that she could do. Her father is Clow Reed and her brother is Toya, another crossover from CCS.
It was Fei Wong's plan that caused her to lose her memories, or "wings". Clone Syaoran's wish caused her to lose her memories of him. After the Dream World Arc, her soul is "destroyed" by Clone Syaoran and she too is revealed to be a clone. In her case, though, he cloned both Sakura's body and heart. It turns out however, that Yuko saved her soul by bringing it into the Dream World, and she will give her a new life.

Original Sakura or Tsubasa (ツバサ?), usually called Sakura (サクラ?): The Original Princess of Clow, she is shown in "Syaoran"'s flashbacks. She is the daughter to Fujitaka and Nadeshiko. She was to be her mother's succesor as the Priestess of the Country. She met "Syaoran" before turning 7 years old, at her 7th birthday Fei Wong places a death seal on her. "Syaoran" spends 7 years trying to remove the seal, but when her 14th birthday comes, the seal consumes her. Her mother, Nadeshiko, stops time to prevent her from dying, and "Syaoran" makes his wish to bring her back to life. After being cloned, her soul and body separated. The real Sakura's soul was seen at the end of chapter 178 [in a flashback], it was released into Fei Wong's tube. Her body however is now in possesion of Yuko, inside the Dream World.

Kurogane Edit

Main article: Kurogane

Kurogane (黒鋼?, lit. "Black Steel"), originary from the Suwa Province in Nihon, he was the son to the priestess and lord of the Suwa region. He would inherit his father's position as Suwa's lord, and his father's job as a demon hunter. Kurogane is an original character of Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicle, not based on any other CLAMP's works.

He was first seen as Tomoyo's servant, who would exile him because she was extremely dissapointed with his actions. He possesed a replica of the Ginryū sword (which belonged to his father), which he had to trade as a price to cross dimensions with Yūko. In Ōto he obtained the Sōhi sword (he kept it until the Celes arc), and taught Clone Syaoran fighting and sword skills. After the Nihon/Dream World arc, he was revealed to be "Fei Wong's pawn." This plan was however prevented by Yūko and Tomoyo. Fei Wong's plan was for Kurogane to serve him, in exchange of his dead mother. Tomoyo instead picks him up following his madness for his parents' murder. Thus, he became Tomoyo's servant and not Fei Wong's. He finally retrieves the 'real' Ginryū from Tomoyo during the revisit in Nihon. She revealed to him that she wouldn't bury the sword, due to his mother's petition. Thus he parts to Clow, as his last duty before returning to his master Tomoyo.

His personality is portrayed as very carelessness towards his travel companions, extremely irritable, overall because of Fai and Mokona who call him names. However, as the plot advances, he gets to care more for them and open himself more to them, even sacrificing his own arm for Fai. Tomoyo's response was one of admiration, stating that he finally learnt the meaning of true strength.

Fay D. FlouriteEdit

Main article: Fay D. Flourite

(ファイ・D・フローライト, Fay D. Furōraito?, also romanized as Fai D. Flowright) is a powerful magician from Celes Country. He travels to Yūko with his own means after sealing King Ashura of Celes and having his creation, Chī, act as a barrier to alert Fay if Ashura awakens. He wishes never to return to Celes, and he has the power to transport himself through dimensions, avoiding Ashura if he awakes. He gives up the tattoo on his back to be able to travel through dimensions by using Mokona. He appears to be happy-go-lucky and good-natured, and acts very carefree. He often teases Kurogane, calling him ridiculous nicknames such as "Kuro-rin", "Kuro-tan" and, in the English version, "Kurgy". Kurogane questions this nature, sensing that it is just a false persona to hide that he is emotionally distant, to which Fai replies with uncertain answers. He doesn't seem to care for his life or fight for it. He only does so if someone's in danger (Syaoran and Sakura for example).

Through the Tokyo Arc, Fai realizes that he got involved with the party (although he didn't mean to) and this is not something that he should have done.

Fay's past is revealed at the Celes Arc. His true name is "Yūi", born in Valeria, with a twin brother, Fay. The birth of twins to the second prince of the country is a bad omen, which leads to the death of their father, the suicide of their mother, and many misfortunes upon the country. Fearing the combined magical power of the twins, the king imprisons them within a tower where sinners are kept, where magic is ineffective and time flows differently. Fay is imprisoned atop the tower, and Yūi is confined at the base of the tower. Bodies eventually begin to fill the base of the tower, and Yūi attempts to climb towards his brother. The King, insane, eventually jumps into the tower, revealing that he has killed everyone in the country, and then kills himself to remind them that they are the cause of everything.

Syaoran later revealed that the probable reason for him to be born as a twin was his wish of rewinding time.

He is voiced by Daisuke Namikawa in the anime adaptation, and by Vic Mignogna in the English adaptation.

Mokona ModokiEdit

Main article: Mokona Modoki

Mokona Modoki (モコナ=モドキ?) These are two rabbit-like creatures created by Yūko Ichihara and Clow Reed in preparation for the events in Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle and xxxHolic, as well as to stop Fei Wong Reed's plans and save the "two futures". White Mokona travels with the TRC party, while Black Mokona stays in Yūko's shop. Both are based upon the original Mokona, who Yūko and Clow encountered while Mokona was traveling through different worlds. Mokona provided Yūko and Clow with the knowledge of traveling through dimensions.

The white Mokona (Soel), is given to Syaoran's group by Yuko in exchange for their most-valued possessions. Although they appear genderless, it is suggested in the drama CDs that Soel is female, and the black Mokona, Larg, is male. Mokona has many abilities, including traveling to different worlds, teleporting objects from one world to another, sensing strong auras, and allowing people from other worlds to communicate. She also prides herself on her "108 Secret Skills" that include things like voice imitation. With the help of the black Mokona (Larg), the white Mokona is able to stay in contact with Yūko, though she also speaks to the black Mokona during their dreams. The Mokonas are voiced by Mika Kikuchi in the Japanese and Carrie Savage in the English version.

Mokona is responsible for locating Sakura's feathers, and whenever one is around, it goes "mekkyo!" for an instant, which alerts the others. Mokona is a very cheerful, optimistic and energetic being, and loves to tease Kurogane, who occasionally uses violence to get back at her. She has a red earring, which is used to enhance magical power. It is used to help Kurogane and Fay escape the closing Celes Country.

Fei Wang Reed Edit

Main article: Fei Wong Reed

Fei Wang Reed, (飛王・リード) also Romanized as Fei Wong Reed: He's the main villain in the story, who is after Sakura's feathers. He's also a direct descendant of Clow Reed and well aware of the powers of the Witch of Dimensions. He was the one who imprisoned both Original Sakura and Syaoran, and created Syaoran (Clone) and Sakura (Clone). Though he already possesses the power to cross dimensions like the High Priest of Clow and Princess Tomoyo, he seeks the power of Sakura's (Clone) wings to "bring back a dream that has already ended" which is reviving someone who was kept on the brink of death. He is ruthless in pursuing this dream and does not care how much blood has to be shed to get that power; those he has killed (or arranged to have killed) include Kurogane's mother, Xing Huo and the real Fay. His true objective is not to obtain Sakura's feathers; rather, the scattering of Sakura's memories was to force her to travel between dimensions so her physical memories would contain a map of the dimensions. This is necessary, in combination with Original Sakura's soul beneath the ruins in the Clow Kingdom, to grant his wish. In Chapter 122 of xxxHOLiC, Yūko reveals in a monologue that he is responsible for the soul stealing entities featured in Volume 5. Also, in Chapter 181 of Tsubasa, Yūko also reveals that this was when she discovered his whereabouts and learned that he needs the souls for the sake of his dream. Following the souls leads to his location. In the original Japanese adaptations, Fei Wang Reed is voiced by Kazuhiro Nakata. For the English dub of the anime adaptation, Fei Wang Reed is voiced by Randy Tallman in first season and by R. Bruce Elliott in the second season.

Xing Huo Edit

Main article: Xing Huo

She helps "Syaoran" go to Yūko after he awakened (Volume 09 of ×××HOLiC), but stated she can only do it once. Her reason to him was, "The dream has to end." She is killed by Fei Wang shortly afterward, using the same blade used to kill Kurogane's mother. Her helping Syaoran was inevitable, as Fei Wang Reed states, "Considering your origins, I suppose it couldn't have been helped." In Chapter 178 she made an appearance in a flashback of her and Fei Wang while he was explaining Sakura's cloning process, along with other girls who are also crossover characters from other Clamp works. Xing Huo is voiced by Sanae Kobayashi in Japanese and Laura Bailey in English.

Kyle Rondart Edit

Main article:Kyle Rondart

Kyle Rondart (カイル=ロンダート, Kairu Rondato) .An agent of Fei Wang Reed, first introduced in Jade Country as the good doctor who was helping the village with their problems around the time the children started vanishing. He seems kind and sincere at first, but we later find out that through hypnotism he was the one that sends the children (most of them his patients) to the old castle to dig out Sakura's feather. He re-appears in Piffle World as the very same person, knowing that Syaoran and his friends will likely assume he is just another incarnation of himself. In Piffle World he tries to sabotage the race to get Sakura's feather, but later escapes without it. Kyle returned in Nihon, kidnapping the Clone Sakura's body and taking the feather after her soul was destroyed. Upon his leaving, Syaoran desperately calls out for him to wait, but it is too late. In chapter 211 he is seen along with Fei Wang and Clone Sakura's body. When the Tsubasa group finally reach Fei Wang's hiding place, Kyle is sacrificed to protect his master.
